About this book

For a number of years, Chinese language teachers, parents and students in New South Wales expressed the need for a course catering to students with Chinese heritage background. In 2011, the Stage 6 Heritage Chinese course became available, with the first examination taking place in 2012. In light of this change and the enormous need for valuable resources, we designed and published this book in the hope that it will benefit students and teachers.

Our aim is to see Chinese language prospering in Australia and many more students studying Heritage Chinese in the future. We believe that with fluency in both languages and an understanding of both cultures, Heritage Chinese students have the potential to fulfil a vital role in the future of Australia-China relationships.

This book consists of sub-issues, vocabulary and grammar exercises, sample tasks for Responding to Texts, sample writings for Creating Texts, suggested answers, transcripts and a glossary.
